This is my first time learn how to create a website. This is something that I have not done before and never think that I could also create my own website. So, this is totally new to me. I am glad that I have the chance to take this subject to expose myself to the world of Internet Technologies. After taking this subject for four weeks, I found that I am actually only know a little part of IT, instead there are still a lot that I should learn from this subject.
Here, is my report regarding the assignment that have been done in group of two. I am partnered with May Lyn, who is my roommate too. We started the assignment by discussing what to do and what is required for this assignment. We read through the assignment guideline and roughly know what we should do for this assignment. After futher explanation by Ms Sha in class, we get the clearer picture of it. We then started on searching a suitable web hosting serve to upload our website. Of course, we are using our own notebook and online to do it. We have visited several web hosting server that are being recommended by Ms Sha, we finally choose webs.com as our web hosting serve because we find that it is easier for uploading and more manageable. We then sign up and come out wth the username, password, email address and other details.
When everything is done, we start to work on the HTML codes. We use the sample that is given by Ms Sha as a guideline to process it. We have been learned about the uses of different kind of codes. But, I still find it difficult to handle especially when what I have typed is not what I see. I have lot more to learn since I am still a beginner. I tried and refreshed again and again to get what I want to appear in the website. We discuss with each other to get the solution. We do it by try and error, using what we learned and apply it in our progression. Besides that, we also faced a difficulty which is we do not manage to put our images in our website no matter how we try to figure out the problem. Finally we realized that we need to upload the picture to the web hosting first, then from there we get the full address of the image and paste it in the note pad in order to get the image on the website.
While uploading the files, we also come through some difficulties too. We wanted to find a background that is not too dark or not too complicated for us to put our contents. Here we encounted some problem on how to upload a background to our website. We have to search the html code for adding background. We use the same way while we are uploading images. We first upload the background image to the web hosting, then get the address of the image from the web hosting and paste it in the notepad. Of course, before that we need to do some research on internet about the html code for adding background.
Creating a blog? Actually this is not my first time creating blog. I do have my personal blog to post my recent life to keep in touch with my friends who are studying oversea. The first time I create a blog is when I was in Form six. I still remember that it was quite hard for me to learn how to manage a blog as I never gone through it before. As a beginner, I have to adapt to the function of each of the icons in the blog. I learn how to upload images and videos onto my blog and decorate my blog with different backgrounds, images and also uploading music to my blog. So that visitors can listen to the music while reading my blog.
I would say that I learned a lot on the HTML code after doing this assignment. I learned how to edit the page, the size of images, the font size, the color by using html codes. I wish I could learn more before I start the assignment especially on the usage and functions of different kinds of html codes. Although sometimes these codes could make me feel miserable, but I manage to make it clear by the help from my partner. Thanks to my partner. We manage to make the website a success! “Our Story” rocks!
